Choosing a Church Home (Part 2)

Choosing a Church Home (Part 2)

If you haven't already, please go back and read part 1 of this blog.  Today we look at the second half of the suggestions, taken from Crosswalk.com. These are some things to consider when selecting a church home for you and your family.

11. What was your "first" impression of this church?
12. What are the priorities of this church?
13. Is there a place in this congregation where I can know and be known by a group of people?
14. What has been the history of this church?
15. Does this church have a strong youth ministry for teen-agers?
16. What is the style and personality of ministry at the church?
17. What is going on in and through the church outside of Sunday morning?
18. What is the "feel" of this church?
19. What are the expectations for membership?
20. Can I live with the things I don't like about this church?

This completes the list which Crosswalk. com considers important things for us to ask about the church we choose to attend. As stated earlier, perhaps there are other items you wish to add to the list, in the form of questions you might have.

One reason I am sharing these 20 questions for your consideration, is to also show you some of the things churches are trying to accomplish in obedience to the Lord's commands for reaching the entire world. Maybe your thinking has been stimulated to consider various ministries in which you could be involved, or areas where you feel your talents and abilities could be of benefit to the body of Christ.

One thing is for sure, God wants his people to gather together for worship, praise, prayer, learning, and numerous other ways we can involve ourselves in being closer to him. Above all, insist that your church be a place which follows biblical teaching, and makes prayer a priority. No church is perfect, because the church is made up of humans, all subject to mistakes and sins. Together, the body of Christ can experience the joy of worship and working for God, knowing his forgiveness and growing in his grace and love.
