I know you read the title, but have you ever said it out loud? I mean verbally express your knowledge that Jesus died for you. It doesn't have to be uttered in a crowd. In a quiet personal place, say it in a whisper or in your normal tone of voice or even louder if you wish.
The title is Bible truth that we have heard and professed to believe all our lives, but the act of saying it out loud doesn't happen as often as it should. The profound truth in the above title is worthy of our knowing and understand and yes, even our continued utterance.
Are there any questions about it that you still need answered? Does the meaning of Jesus' death on the cross have meaning for you at any time other than Easter Week? Let's look again at what it should mean for each of us, personally.
We must never lose sight of the fact that the death of Jesus on the cross was for our benefit. The benefits we receive because of his death give us life. Not only that, his death is the provision for our forgiveness and salvation. So today when you are actually saying, "He died for me," also thank him for blessing you with life eternal.
Another way we should picture the events of the cross, is by realizing our sins put him there. My sin and yours are to blame. Just as real as the sins of the man that drove those nails through his hands and feet, Jesus went to the cross because I am a sinner.
Because of the sins we commit, we deserve death. But Jesus became our substitute and died in our place. The death-sentence that sin pronounces on all of us is forgiven through the death of the sinless Son of God. It is as if our deserved execution and exclusion from the presence of God, were forgiven because he took our place.
Isn't God's love amazing? His love for you motivated him to give his son to die in your place. The end of the story is not difficult to understand. Since he has died for us, we should live for him.
