I like the thoughts associated with the Christian life
described near the end of Romans 8.
Starting in the latter part of verse 31 there are some
questions.......then some answers. Let's
look at them.
verse 31 - "If God is for us, who
can be against us?" Then the answer, in the form of a question. God gave us his Son, and will he not also
give us everything we need?
verse 33 -
"Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen?" Answer, it is God who justifies. Who can condemn us?
verse 35 -
"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall
trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?” Answer, from verse 37, "No, in all these things we
are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”
Then look at the summation of all these
questions and answers. "For
I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither
the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in
all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in
Christ Jesus our Lord."
Earlier I said I like these thoughts. They are filled with encouragement and meant
to strengthen us when Satan tries to convince us how bad we are. The entirety of Romans 8 builds that
encouragement and strength when we are taught about the Spirit which lives in
us.
How sad when Christians continue to lead
defeated lives, not knowing and understanding the power that is theirs. God wants us to know we cannot be separated
from his love. That alone should give us
what we need to grow beyond defeat and share in the victory which God promises.
This day, if and when problems and
difficulties come your way, claim the power within the promise, NOTHING can
separate me from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus my Lord.
