Put your hope in the Lord.

Psalm 130
Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord;
    O Lord, hear my voice.
Let your ears be attentive
    to my cry for mercy.
If you, O Lord, kept a record of sins,
    O Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness;
    therefore you are feared.
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
    and in his word I put my hope.
My soul waits for the Lord
    more than watchmen wait for the morning,
    more than watchmen wait for the morning.
O Israel, put your hope in the Lord,
    for with the Lord is unfailing love
    and with him is full redemption.
He himself will redeem Israel
    from all their sins.

The apostle Paul told the Roman Christians, "there is none righteous, no not one."  We can relate to that because if we are honest with ourselves and honest with God, we know we commit sins and cannot be counted as righteous.

The psalmist recognizes from the sins in his own life, there is a need to turn to God.  Again, we relate because in our sinful state, knowing the record of sins in our life, proves to be too much for us to stand.  The good news for the psalmist and for us is this, "with the Lord, there is forgiveness." It is in that truth we place our hope.

So we bring our broken and helpless lives to him, aware that we have made a complete mess of things, and we seek forgiveness. Through the blood of Jesus we are made clean, white as snow.  The broken relationship with God is repaired. We are His and He lives in us.

Learn what David was saying and meaning in the psalm.  "Put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption."   Have a great weekend.
