We find a new friend, then they
are moving away, and we are separated. We make friends with a coworker, then
learn of their promotion, and they transfer to Toledo. We take the vows, then
change our minds, and go separate ways.
Our darling children turn into rebellious teenagers, the family survives,
then about the time we consider them human again, they leave for college or a
job or marriage. We experience the empty
nest.
Is there anything in life that
is dependable? anything we can count on? anything we can know for sure? The
answer is yes, times three. Here it is: There is nothing that can separate
us from God's love.
Romans 8:37-39
37 " No, in all these things we are more than
conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For
I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither
the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither
height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate
us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Take it to the bank, hang your
hat on it, trust it with all you are. God loves you and there is absolutely
nothing that will bring that to an end. If
death nor life, angels nor demons, present nor future, no powers, height nor
depth, nor anything else will be able to separate us from God's love, why do we
think He would ever stop loving us because of something we do or fail to do?
Having the knowledge that
nothing can separate you from God's love, does it make a difference in how you
formulate choices for your life?
When things go wrong in
relationships, in the workplace, in the home, do you cling to the love of God
as the source to work out a solution?
Think of the
truth about God's love as a starting point in sharing your faith with others.
